Sharing resources about: abundance mindset, BIRDS and, emotional agility.
Happy Sunday!
This past week was a bit of a roller coaster. Not in any remarkable, life-changing way, but just in all of those “I’m a human trying to live authentically in this world” ways. If you know, you know.
Speedbumps: uncertainty, frustration, grief, exhaustion, out-of-sorts, ungrounded, uninspired, old patterns
Wins: lots of time on the floor, lots of stretching and yoga, an “administrative” day off to deal with opening all my mail, permission to take longer walks, permission to take shorter walks, permission to sleep in a bit longer, sharing my heavy feelings with the right person, sharing my lighter feelings with the right person, lots of voice memos, lots of scribbled thoughts
What were your speed bumps and wins?
Wholeheartedly,
Maggie

I’ve written about grappling with a scarcity mindset. I am improving my ability to notice the red flags that fear is running the show, but fostering an abundance mentality takes deliberate practice. We are naturally wired to look for the danger first (and our current global challenges certainly don’t help). That’s why I really appreciated this podcast episode. I resonated with a lot of the discussion, in particular, my inclination to start moving faster and produce more. Learning to slow down and trust is challenging, but so worth it.
Something to Try:
Sounds of spring are starting to fill my ears more and more each day. My interest in birds has really accelerated the past few years. Last summer I discovered the app, Merlin Bird ID and I can’t recommend it enough. It has a ton of cool features, but my favorite is “Sound ID”.
When I was in the midst of taking care of my mom, one of my go-to self care activities was slipping outside, opening the app, closing my eyes and listening to the birds.
The app identifies the call of each bird. It’s dorky, but a blast, and a nice little mindful activity. If you live in an area that is quiet enough for this activity, give it a try and let me know how it goes!

As someone who is still new-ish to the whole emotional literacy thing, I spend a lot of time following Susan David and consuming her content. This was a helpful reminder for me this past week. It’s been a while since I’ve taken her Emotional Agility quiz, that might be on my agenda this week!
My journal, Lessons from Nature is now out. You can find it here.
