I'm sharing my speedbumps and wins, more Morgan Harper Nichols, Lisa Olivera, and as a bonus, I read a Mary Oliver poem!
Hey there…
Happy Superbowl Sunday (for those that partake). We’ve had a beautiful stretch of sunshine. Today, I’m sharing what I’ve found nourishing this week. I also thought I’d add a little extra layer. Since I’m habitually writing this newsletter as a “recap” every Sunday, I figured why not bullet point some of my speedbumps and wins from the week. I think there’s power in seeing it all co-exist.
Speedbumps: grief-y moments, self-doubt, insecurity, defensiveness, holding onto tension in my body, loneliness, impatience
Wins: slow mornings, waking up a little earlier, quiet time in the sun, allowing myself to lean on a friend when I was hurting, scheduling a day off this week, letting dishes sit in the sink, gratitude
I’d love to hear some of your speedbumps and wins! Drop them in the comments.
Wholeheartedly,
Maggie
Listening:
I mentioned Morgan Harper Nichols a few weeks ago. Her Instagram, books and app are all staples in my self-care library. She’s been putting out podcast episodes over the last few weeks. The one below hit home. She talked about “being in the awkward middle space” of “knowing where you are and knowing where you want to go”.

I’ve been consuming
's work fiercely. If you're not familiar, she was a therapist but is now writing, creating, mothering. When I read anything Lisa writes, I feel like I’m screaming “AMEN” every other sentence. She is on my list of people I will sit down and talk with one day (see my intention setting there😉). Her newsletter, Taking the risk from the start of the month is stellar.Quote:
I’m going with a poem this week. Morgan Harper Nichols reminded me that I needed to spend some time with Mary Oliver. One day I will write more about my “relationship” with Mary’s words, but for now here is her poem, I Worried:
My journal, Lessons from Nature is now out. You can find it here.
