Hey there!
At the start of March, I mailed some homemade cards to a few friends. The card declared, in my opinion, March is a “lame” month and needed something to spice it up. Almost halfway through, and I am officially retracting that notion. I think it was my attempt to write off some feelings, LOL! Here in New England, March is a month of change (and I just shared how challenging transitions are for me).
Beyond that I’ve noticed how many dates in March jump out at me (and I’m NOT usually a dates person). For example, tomorrow marks 3 years since school shut down for “two weeks” —AKA the remainder of the year because of COVID. My deceased mom & brother have birthdays in March. Then there’s the start of the baseball season—which I still have no desire to consume since my dad died.
March is clearly far from lame. C’mon Maggie, “In like a lion, out like a lamb” remember?
ANYWAYS—
As promised, I am sending 3 lucky people a copy of Lessons from Nature! I will send emails to the winners today. It was fun to see so many people enter. You can find the paperback version on Amazon AND recently I created a more colorful, downloadable version for purchase on Etsy.
ALSO—I did it. Thank you to those you shared my newsletter. Regional domination unlocked. I now have a reader in New Hampshire. Hi, New Hampshire reader! What’s next? Nevada—I have you surrounded.
I have lots things for your ear holes today. Enjoy!
Levar Burton Reads
Somehow I missed that Mr. Reading Rainbow, Levar Burton, has a podcast. I found myself sidelined, not once, but twice with mild migraines this week (for the first time in a decade—super fun) & Levar swooped in to read me stories with his nice voice. I loved this one!
Being Well
On of the biggest shifts in my own healing journey was when I started listening to my body. However, for a long time I was so OUT of my body it wasn’t even a choice. I’ve developed a pretty strong interest in somatics and connected to so many parts of this interview!
A Spotify Playlist
I stumbled upon the show Daisy Jones & the Six and while it’s meh, the soundtrack is FIRE. I actually had to pause the show and go listen to the Allman Brothers. My dad was a huge music guy and therefore it was a huge part of my life. I forgot how much I truly LOVE a lot of the classics from the 60’s and 70’s. This Spotify playlist has been getting a love of love around the house this weekend.
One time I took a yoga class (shoutout to Colleen if you’re reading this) and I learned a breathing technique that was mind exploding-ly effective in getting my brain to calm down—Alternate Nostril Breathing.
Remember those migraines and all the changes during the month of March I mentioned earlier? I’ve been leaning real heavily on this breathing technique this week. Give it a try.
This a good daily reminder.
Are you enjoying what you are reading? Have ideas for what you’d like to see more or less of? Want to chat? Reach out.
My journal, Lessons from Nature is now out. You can find it here.
Love levar’s podcast!! It’s so magical to hear him reading stories (although boo to migraines 😣). I’m also really into somatics, looking forward to listening to that podcast.
