Or, as I used to say, "Gifted by pain". By the suffering I went through for the relationship with my parents. For their little emotional maturity. For my lack of emotional depth.
Until everything changed. Just because of that pain. That was the enabler of new growth.
This made me stop and think. Also to adjust and accommodate. To have patience and just let my mom be who she is without putting pressure on myself or to feel guilty about what I can or cannot do. Thank you for your perspective and words from your heart.
Thank you for this comment! It is a really hard shift to make and one I wish I had more time to put into practice with my mom. Relationships are so complex. Just having an awareness is a huge first step. :)
