Happy Sunday!
Last week I ended up writing about a goose instead of my usual weekly roundup. But I’m back to my regular format today. In case you’re looking for a goose update, I haven’t seen him in a few days.
Here’s my mini personal update before my shares:
I had time off this week and it felt so great to have some extra time to get my hands dirty and play in the yard. I’m sure it’s the combination of time and warmer days, but I finally feel like I have some more energy back and I’m so grateful.
I remember being in tears in the fall because I could only get about two hours of productivity before I crashed. I found myself wondering how I could ever get back to working full-time or participating in life the way I desired. Grief and trauma really did a number on me. In a lot of ways, it’s been a full time job finding my new baseline and the combination of things that allow me to function. This week it looked like sooo much time meditating, an amazing massage (I think I finally found my match), and a chiropractor appointment. I’m also continuing to build up my tolerance for doing the mundane things like grocery shopping, running errands, and spending time in the car. I’ve been a little selfish with my time and energy and those tasks just really fall on the bottom of my list, and sometimes off the list completely which has its own consequences. Can any of you relate to any of that? I certainly was unprepared. I think it’s something that should probably be talked about more openly. All that being said, having some extra energy has left me itching for some change and some new projects.
Other fun things I’ve been up to:
I went into Boston and saw a comedy show with my best friend. I miss the energy of the city and need to make a point to get up there more.
Spending my Tuesday nights as part of a virtual retreat. I love to talk all things personal development and really enjoyed spending two hours talking about values last week.
Reconnecting with the amazing women from the Ignite your Purpose program I did over the winter.
Writing into the black hole of the internet can be a little strange. Can you do me a favor? If you enjoy this newsletter, can you share it with one person today?
Songs I’ve had on repeat
I’ve shared before how I took a bit of a hiatus from listening to music. Part of it was intentional and then some was because of the amount of podcasts I have in rotation. Lately, I am back to jamming. Here’s a few songs I’ve had on repeat. If you haven’t heard the fish song get ready to get it stuck on a loop in your head. What have you been listening to?
Audiobook: Wild and Precious
Oh, and in case you missed me rave about Wild and Precious: A Celebration of Mary Oliver, here it is again. Listening to this audiobook is like sipping your favorite warm beverage in the spot that makes you feel the safest. Sophia Bush did an amazing job narrating it. It was such a heartwarming, thoughtful blend of Mary Oliver’s own voice, insight on her as a human, and people’s powerful stories about how her poems impacted their life.
Speaking of Mary Oliver, I came across Annah Feinberg's, Where to Waste Your Wild and Precious Life, and got a good laugh. It all hits a little too close to home. Take a peek.
The Diplomat- Netflix
I’m a sucker for political dramas especially with a good female lead. I absolutely devoured The Diplomat on Netflix. It was fun to get sucked into a fictional world for 8 episodes. If you’re looking for a bit of an escape, check it out. What have you been watching?
CHANI: Astrology App
I love having a whole box of tools to help keep me self-aware. I am not an astrology nerd by any means, but I do enjoy knowing what’s going on in the universe just so I can remain curious. I can also tell you I am very much a Virgo. I’ve really liked using the CHANI app lately. The free version is good, but I did spring for the paid version and it is filled to the brim with fun things. Like hello, didn’t I just say I was feeling the urge for a new project? Do you use any astrology apps?
