Weekly Jetsam 12.18.22
Throwing my inspirational finds "overboard" to you. Pick them up or let them float on by.
This was a bit of a whacky week for me, but I don’t think I am alone with that. Everyone I’ve talked to is feeling lots of feels lately. ‘Tis the season.
I’m grateful that I shared breakfast, lunch and dinner with three different friends this week. It feels so good to share a meal with someone during this busy time of year.
Anyhow—here’s my roundup of things that I’ve found useful or insightful over the past week. Let me know your thoughts or if you have any good finds.
Also—gingersnaps are what the world needs more of right now. Don’t even try to argue with me.
Resources:
Over the years I have been more and more into things like astrology but somehow I completely missed Human Design . I was in my own coaching session a few weeks ago & my fabulous coach Gabby brought it up. Turns out I am a producer which is incredibly spot on in a lot of ways. I’ve just barely scratched the surface of it, but my interest is peeked!
It’s just another tool to help you gain a little insight into yourself. If you’re interested you can input your info onto this website and get your chart.
Ideas:
On the whole, I really enjoy Mel Robbins. I appreciate her motivational, no BS style. I was listening to an episode of her podcast this week about dreaming which resulted in a perspective shift for me.
Mel suggested writing down 5 things (or dreams) that you want every day. She argued two reasons for strategy:
No matter how large, small or silly it may seem, this helps to start clearing out the blockages we often bump into that stop us from wanting or dreaming in the first place.
The action of writing something down puts the “Zeigarnik Effect” into action which states, “tasks which have been interrupted and uncompleted are better remembered than tasks which have been completed”. So at the end of the day writing a dream down now acts as a guidepost for our minds to start heading in that direction.
Podcasts:
In typical Maggie fashion, I discovered a podcast from another podcast. Alex Elle (
) was interviewed by Glennon Doyle and I instantly knew I needed to consume more of her content. Alex and Libby DeLana have a podcast called "This Morning Walk" which, as a walker and thinker myself, I happily subscribed to.That’s all the jetsam I’ve got.
