Weekly Jetsam 12.11.22
My weekly roundup of inspirational randomness. Scoop it up or let it float on by...that's your call!
Mornin’— welcome to the first installment of “Weekly Jetsam”.
While historically, jetsam is intentionally thrown overboard to lighten the load of a ship, I am throwing this stuff “overboard” so that it can find it’s way to you.
This is just a brain dump of the topics and things I’ve found inspiring or thought-provoking over the course of the week.
Scoop it up if it interests you or let it float on by if it doesn’t.
I’d love to hear about what you’ve been inspired by this week. Let me know in the comments!
Meditations:
I’ve been using the app InsightTimer for years. This week I found this gem by Kenneth Soares. It’s a deep sleep mediation laced with affirmations & I have been sleeping better than I have in a long time. 10/10 recommend.
Places:
I have been a library whore lately! Okay, that is probably poor word choice, but it’s kind of true. I’ve been in THREE libraries this week. It’s ironic considering it’s been a few months since I finished a whole book. However, there’s something about ALL THE FREE STUFF and the quiet. Shout out to the vandals who left this note in the bathroom stall of the Plymouth Public Library, you’re my kind of people:
Quotes:
I’ve contemplated putting a “WWBS” (what would Brené Brown say) bumper sticker on my car, that’s how much I adore her thoughts. This quote has been seared into my brain this week after making a really challenging decision to turn down an opportunity. When’s the last time you choose courage over comfort? Drop a comment, I’d love to hear about it.
Podcasts:
Armchair Expert is almost like a religion for me. It’s not often that I miss an episode. This interview with Gloria Mark was a standout from the last few months. I learned a terrifying statistic about our attention spans. On average we are switching tasks every 44 seconds….EEK.
Everyone’s therapist has a podcast these days & mine is no exception. I really recommend checking out this episode of the Knomii podcast before you think about setting those silly things called New Year’s Resolutions.
That’s all the jetsam I’ve got.
