How do you know what tool to use?
You look at the symptoms.
Something leaking—you need something to plug a gap.
Something loose—you need something to tighten it.
Notice that I didn’t name any specific tools. That’s because I’m not the person you want to call when your sink is leaking.
But when your face is leaking give me a call!
If I’m crying, I need some safe touch.
If I’m slamming things around, I need to move my body in a healthy way.
But sometimes the hug doesn’t work and I need to try something else. That’s why I know a variety of ways to meet my needs.
My wellness toolbox changes with the seasons.
Spring I love to ground through using my senses.
Summer I throw in meditating on the beach.
Fall and winter tools I can use while sitting in front of my fire take precedence & my journal becomes my good friend once again.
I amassed this arsenal by trying different tools.
Screaming into a pillow doesn’t really do it for me. But did I try? YEP. More than once. At least I know that option exists and who knows, when I’m 90 maybe I’ll be a pillow screamer (that sounds inappropriate doesn’t it).
When was the last time you tried a new tool?
If your toolbox is looking a little thin or you looking for something to use on the dark & chilly days, I have something you might want to give a whirl—Tarot. Even better news, you can get started TOMORROW.
