HOPE (Read and Reflect #5)
The sound stopped me in my tracks. Just as my mother’s visceral sobs on the day my brother died. However, this sound had a magnetic quality, not a stomach churning one.
The sound stopped me in my tracks.
Just as my mother’s visceral sobs on the day my brother died.
However, this sound had a magnetic quality, not a stomach churning one.
I stepped out the front door, and waited for the soundtrack to resume.
After a few seconds, mother nature hit play.
“Crows?”, I said out loud, my confused eyes drifting to the trees.
Clearly, I was losing my mind.
Seconds later the sound rang out across the sky.
My eyes scanned the tree tops attempting to locate the source, relieved that I wasn’t hallucinating.
I found it.
High in a tree 25 feet away was a bald eagle.
I rushed to help my frail mother get outside.
Together, we basked in its presence until it soared to its next perch.
Hope appeared out of thin air that morning and now I can’t stop chasing it.
Ideas for Reflection:
Please share your thoughts in the comments if you feel called.
Describe a moment in your life where you found hope in an unlikely place.
What sounds stop you in your tracks?
How can you practice finding moments of hope in your every day life?
Music makes me stop and listen when out and about. When I get home I put on a playlist and see if I can elevate my mood and my heart. I try.
I take my service dog for a walk most days, we don’t wander far from home but it’s my Baileys walk so he can sniff and investigate all things. Everyday I try to find something that makes me smile or just makes my dog happy. Sometimes joy is hard to find but this is a start on my new path of gratitude.
